toxins in our homesAlarmingly, we live in an increasingly toxic world. If you breathe air, eat food, or drink water, toxins are entering your body. These stealth killers go into our bodies, but many of them do not come back out! They literally get stuck in the deep tissues of our bodies in the liver, heart, brain, kidneys, and bones causing diseases of all sorts such as cancer, heart disease and Alzheimer's.

Discouragingly, we are developing newer man-made chemicals by the thousands. These man-made chemicals such as herbicides, pesticides and industrial chemicals are listed by the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) as poisons. If you've ever read the dire warning labels on insecticides, weed killers and the like, you'll see how harmful they can be when exposed to humans.

Not being a coincidence, many of these chemicals are carcinogenic. OSHA just last month added numerous new chemicals to their list of carcinogens including toxins we're exposed to daily such as formaldehyde and styrene. (Formaldehyde may be found in household products, disinfectants, glues, adhesion, and building materials including hard-pressed woods such as particle board and plywood. Styrene may be found in boats, tubs, shower, and Styrofoam.) Concomitantly, just as we are seeing an increase in chemical toxins in our environment, we are also seeing a rise in cancer rates.

balance.jpgThere’s nothing funny about toxins but they’re definitely scary and they are out to get you. And no, this isn’t a scene from a ‘50s horror movie. Truth is we hear more and more every day about toxins in our environment. They come in all forms and come at us in many ways. Recent headlines bear this out: Chinese drywall, BPA in water bottles, chemicals released by microwaving plastics, chemicals in cosmetics and toxic gas from dry cleaning. While our west coast is not a place where you see smokestacks and urban smog, those brilliant green and weed-free lawns we favor so much can actually be putting your health in serious jeopardy.
